YOU Foundation Project in Ukraine

Patients with blood cancer receiving chemotherapy and/or a stem cell transplantation (Blood or Marrow transplant, BMT) need sophisticated laboratory tests to obtain an accurate diagnosis or to monitor their disease and establish an appropriate treatment plan.
Ukraine hospitals are treating many patients with blood cancer but do not have resources to run adequate laboratories.
- The MLL Munich Laboratory (Munich, Germany) has agreed to run any test required by Ukrainian patients for free. The Institute ResPublica in Kyiv (Ukraine) has agreed on organizing weekly transportation of patients’ blood or bone marrow samples to Munich.
- The YOU Foundation has agreed to provide a € 10,000, (approx. $11,000) grant to the Institute ResPublica, matching a similar donation from the European society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), to support some of the costs of the initiative or at least 1 year.
- This project will support Ukrainian blood cancer patients and their families who suffer from life-threatening health conditions, as well as socio-economic challenges, in a time of war.
